The Alhambra and Granada: Two symbiotic entities united as a single, supreme being.

The past of the Alhambra beats within every stone captured by the camera. The earliest images, preserved on 19th-century glass plates, show us a monument shrouded in mystery—with wild gardens and walls that still whispered Nasrid legends before restoration returned them to their original splendor.

Through the medium of black and white, we discover the traces of its inhabitants: from the sultans and princesses of the palaces to the marks left by Napoleonic soldiers upon the towers. Every vintage photograph is a fragment of time that reveals the evolution of its arches, fountains, and plasterwork, telling stories of power, art, and conquest.

Today, these ancient images are a treasure that allows us to travel back to yesterday. Comparing the Alhambra’s past and present is a fascinating exercise that helps us understand the grandeur of this legacy—a sigh of history transformed into architecture that endures in our visual memory.
